Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II: Top studio camera
Another year, and another selection for the clear winner as a digital 35mm studio/landscape camera.

Canon EOS-1D Mark II N: Top safari/sports camera
No change this year, as the EOS-1D Mark II N enjoys another year at the top of its class.

Pentax K10D: Top enthusiast SLR
Pentax K10D: Top entry-level SLR
The Petnax K10D is a lateral move from last year's enthusiast-winning Nikon D200, as both have similar specs. However the K10D has auto-ISO, in-built sensor-shift image stabilization, and is inexpensive enough to also win top entry-level SLR.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50: Top non-interchangeable lens camera
The latest Lumix may or may not be better for you than last year's winning Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1; you should compare the two to see which is better for you. We gave the nod to the Lumix because of its 12x zoom range and faster lens; however the larger sensor in the DSC-R1 and higher ISO sensitivity might be more important to you. Both are great cameras that will serve you well.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2: Top compact camera
The DMC-LX2 is a slightly upgraded model from last year's winner. It still has not done anything about its noise issues. If you do not care about its raw recording support, look at the Canon PowerShot G7.

Olympus Stylus 1000: Top ultracompact camera
The Stylus 1000 is one of several 3x-zoom 10MP ultracompacts. We chose it because of its useable ISO 800 (with higher available in a pinch) and weather sealing.
