Sony's updated its well received DSC-RX100 line with a third revision. Much of the RX100 II returns with a slightly thicker body, but with a faster f1.8-2.8 lens that's slightly wider at 24mm-70mm (compared to 28mm-100mm). The camera keeps the WiFi and lens ring for manual focusing, but replaces the hot-shoe of earlier models with a convenient electronic viewfinder which hides inside the camera body when not needed, popping-up for use. While the internals are basically the same as the RX100 II, performance will likely be similar with the faster, shorter lens being the only variable. The RX-100 III has an MSRP of $800 (compared to the release list price of $750—and current $700 street price—for the RX100 II).
