Samsung NX500

The latest update to Samsung's five-year-old NX line crams last Autumn's high-tech NX1 into the NX300's successor. Compared with the NX300, the new NX500 provides nearly twice as many phase-detect spots (covering 90% of the imaging sensor) increasing its auto focus even more (the NX300 offered improve auto-focus over the NX200, in part through the addition of on-chip phase-detect sensors). The NX500 doesn't offer all the bells and whistles of the NX1, including the NX1's 15fps burst rate; but does bring quite a bit of features including the much touted "Auto Shot" mode programmed to capture certain sports at just the right moment, such as a baseball batter swinging at a pitch. Additionally, the camera supports Cinema 4K video capture and both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity (but not the faster 802.11ac transfer speeds). For anyone looking for either a smaller or cheaper form of the NX1, the NX500 is worth considering.
