Pentax has historically offered some comparatively high-spec models in the lower-market and mid-market segments. The $850 K-30 looks to follow that trend, offering much of what the higher-market K-5 offers for a little bit less. Unlike sub-$1000 cameras from Canon and Nikon, the Pentax K-30 is weather sealed and includes in-camera image stabilization. It also supports Adobe's documented digital negative raw format.

Nikon has announced three new lenses for its 1 mirrorless system, a fast portrait 32mm F1.2 (86mm equiv.), 6.7-13mm F3.5-5.6 VR (18-35mm equiv.) stabilized wide-angle zoom, and a 10-100mm F4-5.6 (27-270mm equiv.) 10x superzoom.
