Tamron 14-150mm F3.5-5.8 VC for Micro Four Thirds

Tamron has announced a 28-300mm equivalent super-zoom for Micro Four Thirds. The comparatively short lens for the zoom range makes for a compact one-lens walk-around system with image stabilization for cameras (Panasonic) that do not include it in-body.

Metabones Speed Booster

Several places, as if all released from an NDA at once, are posting short hands-on with the Metabones Speed Booster. The device (the first is an adapter for Canon's full-frame EF lenses for Sony's APS-C E-mount NEX cameras) attempts—and comes close—to mitigating the field-of-view crop inherent in such a conversion by in effect adding a rear element that focuses the (nearly) full imaging circle of the lens onto the smaller sensor. Notably from the review, the resulting autofocus is particularly slow (but works).

Canon EOS 6D

Canon announced the EOS 6D just after Nikon announced the D600; both house full-frame sensors and are in the $2000 price bracket (or $2,900 with the EF 24-105mm F4/L IS USM lens). The EOS 6D lacks the dual-card support that Nikon's D600 has, but offers higher ISO sensitivity and an auto-focus system that works better in low light. The EOS 6D also has WiFi and a GPS receiver built into the camera, saving both the cost of an external adapter as well as the bulk.
