Fujifilm has been steadily adding to its X-mount line. In less than two years, there is a respectable selection of high-quality lenses and camera bodies at each of an entry, mid, and high-end user. The first of these bodies to see a revised model is the mid-ranged X-E1 which is being replaced with the new X-E2.
The X-E2 bares much in common with the X-E1, which differed from the high-end X-Pro1 most obviously in the lack of an optical view finder. The X-E2's EVF has been updated to include a monochrome dual split-image focusing mode for manual focus in addition to the existing zoomed-in assist and focus peaking modes. The split-image mode is permitted by utilizing the new phase-detect left/right sensors on the X-E2's imaging sensor, a change that also brings noticeably snappier focusing (Fujifilm says 0.08seconds, which should be taken with a grain of salt).
